Mount Dickerman #34

Well I will start out saying that this is probably one of my least favorite hikes. I also recommend that if you are just getting into hiking don't do this one right away. The hike is 8.6 miles round trip, but there is 3,723 feet elevation gain in 4.3 miles. That is a lot of switchbacks! The parking lot does have a pit toilet and there is also an information sign that gives you details of the hike. Such as that the trees were planted in 1915 after a major fire came through the area and tells you about being able to see Glacier peak from the top. The trail starts out pretty flat from the parking lot and there is a register that we put our information on. We stopped at this one spot that had devils club and found some water and decided to try my friends new water filter and fil...

Squires Lake #33

Saturday after Church my friend came with my daughter (Miss A) and the dog (Cookie) and I on a hike to Squires Lake in Bellingham Washington. It was a really easy trailhead to find and a great hike. To get there take I-5 North and take exit 242, turn right and go a mile and the parking lot is on the left hand side. The hike starts off with a bit of a climb that isn't too steep and it doesn't last very long, a little over a quarter mile. Once you are done hiking up the "steep" part you immediately arrive at the lake with a bench to sit on and enjoy the view. There are 2 options on which way around the lake you can go, over the bridge to your left or to the right which has a little bit of a hill. We chose the bridge way. I should state that the trail is very wide once you are done going up the incline, and doesn't...
