Lord Hill #39

Today my husband and I took the kids hiking to Lord Hill Regional Park in Snohomish. It was a beautiful day and an easy hike. I do recommend that you download the pdf map since it shows you all of the trails. There are maps located in certain areas but the trails can be a little confusing.
Lord Hill has a total of 10 miles of trails and is a multi use trail meaning bikes, hikers, and people on horse back, making it a rather popular area to use. The parking lot is large, but, be prepared to park on the shoulder because of how busy it is.

There is this really cool Silo near the parking lot near the trail head and of course the information sign with a map and all of the warning signs and don't feed the wildlife. There is also a port a potty... but it was gross and there is only one.
On the left hand side of the trail you immediately come to this Cedar tree, and you have to climb it.
Then the trail goes down hill and into the woods
A short while later you come upon these 2 wooden bridges to cross a rather muddy area that I think is a wetland.
The trail then splits and becomes this very wide area. Miss A was really excited because there were 3 horses on the trail and she was able to pet them. There were also bike riders on the trail. I took this picture of the horse and rider after the kids had petted the horses while I had to chase after the dog; who freaked out at seeing them. She completely slipped out of her collar and I barely caught her.
I will be honest and say I don't remember the trail names that we took and I didn't take any pictures of them. For that I apologize. But it was a nice and easy trail and had some beautiful trees,
                                                               and fungi growing on trees.
The trail then curves around and you get to cross this wooden bridge.
The trees and moss were so very pretty to walk through.
We then had to stop for some reason and decided to take the left fork of the trail, which as you can see from the pictures was a very large path.

It took us through some sword ferns that were very huge! I have not seen any sword ferns this big in a long time.
I thought that the light coming in through the tree tops was so pretty, it was the only spot that the sun was this visible.
Our walk through the woods then led us to the pipeline road, which has the natural gas pipeline running underneath the ground. There is a beaver pond on the right that was covered in fog, but the trees blocked any cool picture opportunities.

The road then comes to a wooden bridge and like 3 intersections, we took the wrong one and ended up on this trail that took us to the backside of a neighborhood. We then stopped and talked to a very nice lady who told us the correct trail to take us back to the parking lot.

Once we arrived back at the car, the kids insisted on going and playing on the climbing rock. Which they had a fun time playing on and sliding down.
In all it was a beautiful fun Sabbath afternoon to spend time as a family and get outside and  enjoy nature.
I hope you get the chance to enjoy this hike rain or shine.
