Cherry Creek Falls #58
After my daughter's visit to the dentist, we met my mother in law at the Duvall Safeway and headed to Cherry Creek Falls. I saw on a post somewhere a while ago that it was an easy hike and that the falls were really nice to see and quit enjoyable to play in.
I recommend car pooling because the parking is along the shoulder of the road. Which they have broadened the shoulder because the gravel is new and the asphalt on the road is new. A parking pass of any kind is not required. There is no bathroom and there isn't any drinking water. So bring lots of water if you go when it is really hot.
I thought maybe you could see them in the picture, but alas you can not, but there are fry in the stream.
Not too long after the creek you come to this giant Cedar tree and a path that takes you down to the falls instead of up to the top of the falls.

This is the trail head.
The trail is on private property so please keep your dog on a leash and pick up any garbage or mess that you make so people are still able to use the trail.
Not very long after beginning the hike you come upon this old abandoned car.
The trail is pretty wide and clear, so there aren't really any tripping hazards.
On this trail there are a few signs way up in the tree that show you were you want to go. You want to go left at the first intersection and right at most of the other intersections. Towards the end there is a section were you want to go left.
It is a very clean trail and free of debris and roots for a long while.
Thought that this was really pretty.
A bridge to cross. The boys and Cookie were a ways away a head of us.
The little stream that runs under the bridge.
We caught up to the boys, who were upset that I didn't allow them to bring their bikes to ride, because they found bike trails and jumps. H and A had to climb and down this side a couple of times.
Stay right at this junction.
And right at this junction.
It is hot!
This part made me think of Ann of Green Gables.
This part did as well.
You come to an area that feels like a dead end from all of the flora, that is really a "T" intersection, it looks like the tail should go right, but instead you want to go left. Going left leads you to this
and the second car that is described in the directions off of Washington Trails Association website.
Then you meander through trees and a more narrow trail to get to......
A creek! Cookie decided that she was finally hot enough to get a drink, but she went way back in the flora to do it.I thought maybe you could see them in the picture, but alas you can not, but there are fry in the stream.

Made it! It felt so good to get in the water after the hiking, it was hot.
Shortly after we arrived everyone started to show up to go swimming so I am glad we hiked it earlier rather then later. Also my mother in laws fitness tracker said we went 5.86 miles round trip rather then the miles stated on both Washington Trails Association and AllTrails websites. We thoroughly enjoyed playing in the water which was full of fry. If you stood still long enough they would swim up to your legs and bump into you. Miss A thought it was the coolest thing in the world to experience. Do this trail but I recommend that you print out a map. We passed some people on the way back that had been ahead of us on the way in and still hadn't found the falls. There are numerous other trails and it is easy to get turned around.
Until next time!
