FairHaven Falls #66
On the Saturday after Veteran's day L and I took 2 of my kiddos and the dog on a hike. Since it was so cold and sunset is so much earlier, and L had some duties to perform at church, we chose a nice short hike. After church was done the kids and I came home, ate, changed, and packed the dog into the car and headed to L's house. We picker her up and drove to Fairhaven Falls trail head.
Once we arrived the small parking lot area was very full and as you can see in the picture below we had to park along the shoulder of the road, and had to cross the road to get to the trail head. This is a busy road so please be careful while crossing it.
I Love these 2 so much. H didn't really want to go on this hike, but he didn't have a choice in the matter and finally changed his attitude and was starting to enjoy the hike.
Miss A made sure to get in front of H since he was tying his boot laces again. She wanted to be the leader but he wouldn't let her.
Once all of the groups of mountain bikers had passed and it was safe to do so, we proceeded on.
After our very short and cold hike to the falls, we drove to Fairhaven Park to use the bathroom since it was not too far away. It is a beautiful park with drinking fountains and very nice bathrooms, and a large parking lot.
As we were leaving the park it finally became dark, but we had such a fun day and hike, and going to the park was a nice highlight. I highly recommend the hike and if I remember correctly we did a little over 2 miles round trip. I encourage you all to go and check the trail and park out!

Once we crossed the road we were able to walk on this path that felt somewhat safer.
We saw this sign at the beging of the trail head
that read that there were salmon sightings. It answered our question as to why it was so busy and why there were so many cars.
Once we read the sign we decided to follow them. Which was simple since they were all along the one trail. 😂I Love these 2 so much. H didn't really want to go on this hike, but he didn't have a choice in the matter and finally changed his attitude and was starting to enjoy the hike.
This stream was on your right as you are going along the trail.
Not too far down is this cool bridge that you get to cross.
Before the bridge we crossed this and down on the right hand side was a spot that you could see some of the salmon in the stream. H and A were very excited to spot the salmon and the dog wanted to climb in the water. Also in the picture you can see a blue pop up that the volunteers from the NSEA. They were there to answer questions and even had hot cocoa and cider, but because we were so late in arriving the drinks were gone and they were taking down the booth. Needless to say the kids and I were a little disappointed not to get a warm drink. This day of hiking was so much colder then the Veteran's day hike. I didn't take any layers off this time, and my kids who usually get really hot and strip as much as possible off , left their layers on. They didn't have many layers to begin with, but that is besides the point.
"Cookie come on, Stop smelling that rock."
Miss A: "L which we are we supposed to go?" L to Miss A: "We are to go left."
The picture below is a list of all of the trails that are connected. We plan on doing all of them.Miss A made sure to get in front of H since he was tying his boot laces again. She wanted to be the leader but he wouldn't let her.
My heart. I love them so much.
We rounded the curve and found this fun boulder. Which we had to stop behind because a group of mountain bikers came flying down the trail.
While we were waiting the kids decided that they had to climb the boulder.
H started up first, A was struggling to get her foot up high enough, I then went over and gave her a lift. during the meantime H made it to the top.
Once all of the groups of mountain bikers had passed and it was safe to do so, we proceeded on.
The trail was so pretty, a little damp. But very nice.
Miss A decided that she was too warm and wanted her hat off, so H took it because his ears were cold. But somehow the ends of the hat smacked him in the eye as he was putting it on.Thus picture below.
We stayed left to get to the falls.
We came to another Y and stayed left again because we wanted to go the view point.
We then climbed a little bit of a hill, these 2 decided to run up it.
The dog finally decided that she was thirsty. Which this shows how far she has come since we rescued her almost 3 years ago.
Almost to the falls
We arrived! The falls were small but it was still pretty to see.
After our very short and cold hike to the falls, we drove to Fairhaven Park to use the bathroom since it was not too far away. It is a beautiful park with drinking fountains and very nice bathrooms, and a large parking lot.
Miss A and H played on the toys for awhile.
As we were heading back to the car we discovered the mini water park for the summer months. How fun is that? I will have to take the kids there this coming summer. As we were leaving the park it finally became dark, but we had such a fun day and hike, and going to the park was a nice highlight. I highly recommend the hike and if I remember correctly we did a little over 2 miles round trip. I encourage you all to go and check the trail and park out!
Until next time!
