Lower Wallace Falls #56
Last Friday L and I decided that even though we both had appointments we were going to go hiking. We both agreed that it didn't matter if we made it to the top or half way. We just wanted and needed to go hiking. We decided to meet at 5pm at Wallace Falls State Park.
When we arrived we literally had the whole parking lot to park in, where as you go on the weekends there is no where to park and end up parking down along the road. This park has an electronic pay station, nice clean bathrooms and water.
The trail starts off very wide and flat and you end up walking under the power lines, which the noise of the power lines is pretty cool to listen to.
The trail is very nice, with flat sections and there are roots and rocks on the trail but just watch your footing.
This is the picture of the above sign of the Olympic Skyline, my phone camera didn't do such a good job of getting them. But in person you can see them all from this vantage point.
Please when you are at any of the falls please stay behind the railings. They are there for your protection, too many people have died from going behind them and falling in. The views are great but not worth the risk to get a better picture.
In all we did a total of 2.6 miles, and had a lovely time even if we only did make it to the lower falls.

Our fearless leaders take the lead as usual.
Stay right at the "Y," going left takes you up the longer road trail, which can also be used for mountain bikes.
There is also the Woody Trail, which if I remember correctly it is a newer trail. Will have to check it out next time we go.
The views are great all along the way.
Miss A told me that it is shaped like a z and that it was fun to go through.
This was pretty fun to walk down.
Leading you right to the bridge,
crossing the river.

Walking through an enchanted forest.
"So so tired mom." She is so over dramatic at times, but she always makes me laugh.
More I am so tired.
We stopped and had water at a bench near this sign with a map of the trail.
"Mom what do the signs say?"
A little bit after stopping to read the signs we came upon another fun bridge to cross over the river.
The view of the river from the bridge was really pretty.
Once you are done crossing the bridge the trail starts climbing again, but it isn't that bad.

We arrived at this tree/logged area and I informed Miss A that I thought I heard water and to listen. She had been asking if we were there yet and if we could stop.
When Miss A saw the picnic area she ran ahead. If I remember correctly a group of boy scouts helped construct this, so a big thank you to them! Please when you are at any of the falls please stay behind the railings. So beautiful and peaceful.
We had our picture in front of the lower falls which are still very pretty, ate our snack in the picnic area and headed back down because we agreed that we would turn around at 7:30p.m.In all we did a total of 2.6 miles, and had a lovely time even if we only did make it to the lower falls.
Until next time!
